For those of you who have done Eli's Eco Tour (like me) or are thinking of doing it I am sure you are wondering what you are in for or you might just want to share your experience (good or bad). Well Eli has a new blog which is not only about his tour but also about Antigua.

http://antiguaisland.blogspot.com/

I think it is pretty cool, because he also has some amazing photos of Antigua, which has the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean .

Thanks, I have checked it out, its really interesting. Eli is a very clever buisness man (this is not meant to be rude or disripectful). He is very clever at spinning the dream.

Well, "saucywow" .........

I'll 'ditto' Mun's remarks. However, on the surface, it doesn't appear ( as yet ) that there is any true 'track record' for this new blog site.

I must commend him for establishing the site but, as of this point in time, all 7 blogs have been authored by the entity that created it and, you must admit, is a self-serving site.

My somewhat concern, is with your words "share your experience (good or bad)". If you would like to respond to any of the current blogs ... you are met with the following statement:

"Comment moderation has been enabled. All comments must be approved by the blog author."

Somehow, I don't feel as 'free' to make comments on these types of sites as I do on this instant website and some other travel forums for Antigua.

Just my personal opinion and no offense intended for either you nor Eli Fuller.

Regards,

I absolutely agree with Munmun and Terry on this one.

I would also add that there are a lot of differing opinions on the Fuller family....again, this is not meant to be disrespectful; it is merely an observation based on many decades of Antiguan experiences.

'based on many decades of Antiguan experiences' Really, you must be quite old? ;)

Seriously, I agree with others that I prefer to make comments and queries in forums like this which are unmoderated, instant and not managed by those with commercial interests.

Oh, I'm old all right!!!!! (see my profile under "about me" when clicking on cessnapilot)!

Seriously, I've been going to the island for over 50 years and have owned a home there for over 20 (my family has ties to the isand dating back over 80 years). So....I've seen a lot of changes. Some for the good; others....maybe not.

And what an honour it is to have someone prepared to give their valuable time and share their wisdom with us all.

Thank you very much, "Cessnapilot".

i find it amazing in this media savvy age that so many people are confusing blogs with message boards. they are completely different animals with different protocols. for the uninitiated blogs are "web logs" and are set up by an individual, rather as a personal diary or info sheet for anyone who might be interested. message boards, by contrast, are open forums where topics are discussed and moderated by an independent person or group of persons. actually, i have just read the rest of eli's blog for today, which explains all this much better than i can.

i also think that to make snide comments about someone's family, without identifying yourself, is in extremely poor taste.

i guess we are all entitled to our own opinions. mine is that eli is a canny businessman who in promoting his own business has done more to promote antigua as a holiday destination (thereby benefitting all tour operators, not just himself) than most other tour operators here have done in the last 40 years (and yes i have been here that long).

Hi paridiseregained

I dont think that I was actually saying anything different than you have, Elis use of a weblog as a buisness tool is entirely justified. I feel he took offence to my term 'spin'. This was not supposed to be an offensive term, mearly a suggestion of getting others absorbed in his island life.

I have emailed him via his blog, if he chooses to post my comment he can.

I also agree that most of us have feelings about others, most of us do not post these on websites and I am not sure it is appropriate to do so.

I hope Eli continues to write his blog, I have sereral blogs that I read regulaly by friends who are traveling. I also keep a personal blog which at present I dont choose to share, but I may in the future.

We have been on Eli's trips many times and still can't say enough good things about him and his crew. As far as his blog is concerned, good for him!! He is a business man and I think he has proven he is very good at it. But no matter how good a "spin" anyone puts on their business, if the business stinks, it stinks and they are not going to be in business long. Obviously this isn't the case with Eli. He has two solid businesses and it is very clear that he has put his heart and soul into them, that is why the succeeded.

A blog is a very personal thing. Yes, you are putting it out there for others to read but nobody has a gun to anyones head, if you don't like it don't read it. I don't know that I would necessarily open it up to other peoples opinions. Afterall, nobody would have a chance to write in my private journal so why should this be any different. A bloggers blog is their opinion, their life, their views, their experiences just put out there for friends, yes and/or customers, to read to find out about the blogger. If other people have their own opinion, start your own blog.

Cessnadriver, that was just really rude what you put on your post. If you have dirty laundry with the Fullers, take it up with them. Just throwing out a statement like that makes you look like jealous couch surfer.
