Scams at the grand princess casino in Antigua

If you go to the island of Antigua PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT go to Grand Princess Casino. They have this game called Super Rainbow Jackpot. An Asian lady came up to us and said that she was going to give us free money to play, then all of sudden we are playing this game we didn't even want to play and owing all this money. They played with ping pong balls and they con you with a free coupons. My spouse and I were there with another couple and got sucked out of $2,600.00. They make it seem like you going to win at first then the game all of a sudden goes up in the bet price. This game is fixed so you don't win and it just keeps you one step from getting the big jackpot. It' was 4 of us playing and we needed 1 point to win. Needless to say we never got that 1 point. We felt like it was a scam because every time the man did a test go he got points every time we went it was a black ball or a double. This means that you have to double your bet. PLEASE DO NOT GO AND PLAY THIS GAME "SUPER RAINBOW JACKPOT"!!

saw a game like this when in st martin ( dutch side ), i walked away, to tell people not to go to this casino because you got sucked into a game that took your money is kind of harsh, advise people to beware because of your experience would of been better IMO, sorry about your loss and lack of balls to just say no to someone who is presurring you into something you don't want to do, I've been to that casino and don't even remember seeing that game, must be new, I will beware

I would think anyone would carry a degree of suspicion going to most established casinos. Even with playing blackjack you wonder if there's a hidden camera to pick out what's in your hand and relay it to the dealer via a hidden earpiece 007-style. :) Rick is right - beware is the watch word.

Cheers!

I just had a similar experience in the Jolly Harbor casino in Antigua.

I was one point away and down $700 with a jackpot of $6400 but thank god my husband made me walk away, This game really is a total scam. They also gave me a free $10 coupon to play.

This was the worst part of my trip. I felt like I was totally taken.

You were in fact taken !!! They are crooks. The balls are numbered ,but if you remember the numbers were placed far apart so they can cover a number with their finger to insure that the bets go up and your chance of winning is virtually impossible. Good thing you left or you would have lost alot more. Something really needs to be done about this.

for Antigua

Look it ... everyone ...........

The former (or current) "Rainbow" play ... has been a forum issue of concern (on all of the ANU forums) for years and years. Many forum threads (many have perished) have been authored about this "gaming" type activity at the Grand Princess, Jolly Harbour, casino. The ANU government has, effectively, done NOTHING to curtail the operation.

There are certain "political" and "ethnic" reasons that this unfair "gaming play" exists. This "game" has been outlawed in the USA for decades. I'm not certain that it ever has risen to the surface at any Casino in the USA ... but, without question, was once present at certain Carnivals.

I've always advised that folks should go to any "casino" with only a limited amount of "expendable cash" in their pockets. Leave any credit/debit cards in your room safe. This means YOUR cards as well as your spouses!!!!!!!!!

Alcohol consumption figures well into the the "game". I personally know of a newlywed couple, from just outside of New York City, that lost close to US$20,000 on the very evening of their "extended" stay at the Pineapple Beach Resort. About half of that amount was, after months and months of "back and forth" with the credit card company, eventually "forgiven or abated".

These were NOT folks "well healed" financially. It greatly affected their marriage and their future lives.

Drinking alcohol and casino play .... do NOT "mix" ... to the benefit of the players. It's a simple truth.

If one is absolutely "sober" ... and loses great sums of money ... what can I say? .... except .... Shame on you !

It's only my opinion (how can we ever know the truth?) ... that this particular casino "game", relies on somewhat affluent "cruise ship" passengers that would rarely be inclined to admit to their losses on ANU via ANY public forum. The majority, most likely, aren't even aware of "INTERNET Forums".

Casinos know the "ODDS" much better than the majority of the "PLAYERS". This is the principal reason that they thrive.

Sorry about the long reply ..... I'm stepping down from the "soapbox" ... tonight.

Cheers and best of luck to all,

T

What puts me off gambling at all, even more than the thought of losing (which is statistically the far most likely outcome!), is that even if I win, I'm only winning from other players who have lost....

You NEVER win from the Casino - you only ever win from other people just like you....

Gambling is for idiots - unless you're the casino owner!

Idiots!!!!

that seems like kind of a harsh statement to make to anyone who has ever dropped a quarter in a slot machine,

I would like to take this time to thank all the losers before me that have helped pay for a couple of my vacations.

I would also like to say that for the people who have come behind me at times and won my money, i hope it helped you have a plesant vacation

just having fun, don't take it serious
