Link Ferry Questions |
|
I'm contemplating taking the link ferry from the airport directly to Anguilla. I originally thought we could go on Mr. Connor's larger Link Cat, but apparently he can only use the older, smaller boat for this trip due to bridge clearance. Has anyone taken this smaller boat? How smooth is the ride? How long is the trip? Pictures of the boat make it look a bit claustrophobic. I am prone to seasickness, hence the concerns. In the past, we had always gone TransAnguilla, but they have done away with their shared charter arrangement, making them unaffordable for us. Any input on the link service would by much appreciated. |

When we departed AXA on our return to SXM we were going to take the regular ferry. It was a Saturday and the line for the regular ferry was long. We were approacked by the folks of the Link Cat offering us a ride over. We politely refused trying to cut costs. We waited a bit then approached them and booked with them. Their were 4 of us and about 4 others and 2 crew. I am prone to seasickness. It was a bit choppy, but no problems. They pulled up in Simpson Bay, had a van shuttle us over to the airport with no departure fee at the ferry dock, nor additional cab fee. So glad we made the move. We will certainly do this again next time. I, too, was concerned because it was a smaller boat. It took about 45 minutes over to SXM.

The smaller link covered boat was one of the regular ferries out of Marigot in the early 90's.Its not that small--and I was on it once in huge rolling seas--thankfully I had a few rum and cokes. It really depends on the seas. I have been on that type of boat many times.I never felt claustrophopic.

Thank you for the responses. Mr Connor has been very responsive via email, so I guess we will give it a try. I was a little surprised that it was a 45 minute trip, although, maybe it is significantly farther than Marigot to AXA. Anyone else have any experiences with the Link to share?

Its not 45 minuters from SXM dock to Blowing point- its about a 20 minute ride--give or take --the extra time might be for forms at the dock thru immigration.

emailed Funtime and we are booked on the 2pm leaving SXM and I think the 11:30 (?) leaving axa (not sure and the info is at my desk) but they were very helpful and the cost is $70 one way per/person - includes meet at the airport, van over to the dock and trip to AXA. Sounds pretty darn good to me. SAG
