Anguilla ferry close to the airport |
|
What is the cost of the ferry for a round trip to Anguilla from the dock close to the airport? I am trying to determine whether it would be cost effective, in addition to the obvious time-saving factor, using that one instead of taking a taxi to Marigot. Petrico |

I used Link and paid 35.00 USD pp and it included the transport to the airport. With taxi I believe all agree, it works out the same price.

I have a question. I arrive at 2:07 and will likely be unable to catch any 2:30 ferries. Link, Shauna, and Funtime do not have another ferry until 4:30 at the earliest. So, what do you guys think my quickest way is to get to Anguilla? Go to Marigot and take the public ferry? I am also considering hiring a private charter but I would like to split the fees with other couples. Any ideas on that? Thanks!

By the time you get off the plane and clear customs, it will be close to 3pm, then another 1/2 hour to the dock in a taxi, 3:30, if you're lucky, you will board the 4pm ferry, 1/2 hour to Anguilla, you will arrive in Anguilla at 4:30. If you take a ferry from the airport, you will arrive at 4:45 or so. It is 6 of one half dozen of the other, taxi to the dock is an interesting ride and you get to see some of SXM, and it is less expensive. Ferry from the airport is faster and more expensive. Good Luck, Ellen

Here is a paragraph that I copied out of Zabar's recent trip report that breaks it down nicely: "This trip, we finally got smart and took the “Shauna VI” private ferry boat. This is a great way to travel from SXM Airport in St. Maarten directly to Blowing Point in Anguilla. It’s convenient and also not any more expensive than taking the public ferry, at least for 2 adults. For any of you 1st timers or old pro travelers to AXA, here’s the arithmetic for two adults; in July 2007 the taxi ride from SXM to Marigot cost $42 ($35 + $7 tip each way) and the public ferry cost $12 per person each way. That added up to a total cost of $132 round trip for 2 adults. In July 2008, the Shauna VI private ferry cost $60 round trip per person and the 3 minute shuttle bus ride cost $3 per person each way. That added up to a total cost of $132 round trip for the two of us. The Shauna VI private ferry will get you to AXA a lot quicker and a lot more comfortably. Never mind about the courtesy displayed by the Shauna VI crew members vs. the rather stoic attitude of the AXA public ferry employees. I’m sorry that we did not use Shauna VI sooner but … “better late than never”. I know that the detailed descriptions of all of the various routes to take to Anguilla probably doesn’t make exciting reading for most of the Forum readers, but I’m hoping that it is helpful to those readers that are AXA “newbies”.

It looks like my best option is to take Shauna or Funtime at 4:30. I may arrive in Anguilla 30 minutes later but it sounds like it will be a more enjoyable ride.

I would recommend emailing Shauna with your flight schedule. Last time I came in to SXM, I had just missed the 2:30 Funtime shuttle due to flight delay. I got to the dock at 3:00 or so and Shauna had two boats that had just left at 3. I waited for the 4:30 Funtime shuttle, which didn't actually go until 5:55, just before the dock closed. It felt like a long wait.

I will definitely be getting in touch with Shauna. Thanks...

In case they are not free I used the Link: fbconnor [fbconnor@anguillanet.com]

I just want to confirm that you can walk to the Shauna ferry dock from the airport right? In the post Daffy copied it said "3 minute shuttle bus ride cost $3 per person each way." Was that that the the shuttle TO the dock, or once they were in Anguilla? I just wanted to make sure we could walk. I think there is a 2:30 pm Shauna ferry leaving St. Maarten. Our flight gets in at 12:40pm so I am hoping we can make it! Thanks for your help!

Hey abbarber I think we are both looking to be on the Shauna 2:30 ferry on Nov. 1, and my plane doesn't get in until 2:00! They told me they would try and hold it til we got there so I hope we don't end up holding your group up. If your plane is on time I think you won't have any problem. We may miss each other though as it looks more likely we will hit the 4:00. Not 100% sure but I think the dock is walkable and in St. Martin. Some TA people are having dinner at Smokey's on Wed night. Think about joining us.
