We eat at Straw Hat in Forest Bay (a lot!!!) but I cannot place this villa even after looking at the pics (which are gorgeous). Forest Bay is off the beaten path for now -- soon to be developed totally with golf course and all -- but there are beautiful views of St. Martin from Straw Hat.
We usually stay at a villa in Little Harbour (which is right by Forest Bay) and absolutely love it. As Mary said, it is a bit off the beaten path, but you are close to both the east end and the west end--so it is very convenient for island exploration. The views in that vicinity are fabulous.
We are going with a smaller group this May and had considered L'Embellie, but due to a few friends who were "tentative" and couldn't commit right away, we ended up elsewhere. It looks lovely.
Stayed here last September. It is fantastic! As stated, it is a bit isolated down a dirt road and can be a bit unnerving at night, but a security guard does park himself out front overnights. If you want privacy, this is the place .
Forest/Cerrito Bay is centrally located, so getting around the island is easy. It is also close to the Valley making getting groceries or other necessities convenient.
The villa is on the water with a small beach. Not a great swimming beach due the rocks and urchins, reef shoes are needed. But fine for sunning or kayaking about.
The grounds are an eden and the pool is unbelievable. Like being at your own private resort. All the bedrooms have A/C and the kitchen has everything you could need. The house itself if beautiful and there are is also a guest house on the property.
The Straw Hat was closed for the season when we were there, but other dining options - Koal Keel in the Valley and E's Oven & Tasty's in South Hill are not far.
Definitely recommend L'Embellie.
