Never been bothered during the day -- have encountered them in the evening hours (after dark). We swear by Mosquito Milk, a roll-on that protects against sand flies & mosquitoes for 8 hours. It's saved many an evening!

We have been to Anguilla twice now in May and had no problem with bugs during the day. Evening was a different story. Be sure to spray at night, especially your legs, and the bugs should leave you alone.

Yes, Mosquito Milk is available at the Anguilla Durg Store in the Valley and in the gift shops of the major hotels.

Didn't see any sand flies, but we were eaten alive last time by mosquitos, and I had brought 30% DEET.

Each night before we would leave for dinner we would spray the room with Raid, and close it up, but the pesky critters still got in.

We are not used to mosquitos so this was something new to experience.

I ended up buying a bottle of vinegar to try and squelch the itching, I also got "anti-bite" - which seemed to be straight ammonia in a tube. The only thing that stopped the itching was Claritin which one of the guests gave to me, after they saw the welts all over my legs and arms.

Be sure and take plenty of protection - it is expensive down there.
