Both properties get such high accolades. Please make a distinction between them in terms of accomodations, beach, service, convience, views, price or anything that one has rated better than the other. Thanks

Eventhough I've never seen it or stayed there, you may want to check out the Anguilla Great House on Rendezvouz Bay. It's moderately priced and have heard nothing but good things about it. I believe it's www.anguillagreathouse.com
Well after further investigation it looks like some of the recent reviews tend to be alittle spotty. Of course you can take individual reviews with a grain of salt. Maybe someone else may have a little more info on the property it it's of some interest.
I Luv Aqua Water,
I think for a first visit, splitting the time between multiple resorts is a nice idea. It forces you to see more of the island and gives you the opportunity to figure out what it is most important to you. If you are having difficulty with availability at either/both hotels, I would encourage you to check out the following popular places that would all be in your price range as well:
Serenity (on a quieter part of Shoal Bay East): http://www.serenity.ai/
Carimar (on Mead's Bay, also very lovely): http://www.carimar.com/
La Sirena (also on Mead's Bay, see above): http://www.sirenaresort.com/
Elodia's (on Shoal Bay East, a two minute walk from SBV, but my personal favorite beach bar!): http://www.elodias.ai/
There are numerous other options, these are just a few my husband and I were seriously considering for our latest trip.
We just returned from SB Villas. The pool is nice and tidy with pretty plantings surrounding it, but it is quite small. If you're a "pool person," it's probably not for you. The beach though is beautiful, and we found it extremely quiet--and this is high season. On Sunday, it got a little more crowded/festive, but that is very relative--it would be considered dead in comparison to Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman or Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos. People were almost whispering to each other, so as not to disturb others--we had a lot of readers as fellow guests. They also have nice beach chairs with cushions and clean up the beach area every single morning. The rooms are very clean and spacious but not luxurious. The bathroom is very nice--recently renovated--but you won't find heavenly beds or Egyptian cotton linens if you know what I mean.
I appreciate your review and all the comments. Even though our priority is, and we prefer, the beach---we like to (sometimes for a change of pace) relax around and dip into, the pool. I like that they have nice beach chairs and umbrellas. We can be comfortable without worrying about getting too much direct sun.
