jr, I would recommend St. Maarten. Although I/ve been going there with my wife and another couple for a couple of years, it is definitely a place for singles as well. The driving is a little crazy, but they've recently remodeled the airport, so it's up to date. People are very friendly and it is safe. Many, many beaches and beach bars. The Dutch side takes US Dollars, while the French side (St Martin) takes Euro, making it a bit pricey. Great French restaurants on the north side, trendy ones on the Dutch side, casinos too. Check out the Sunset Beach Bar's Bar/Beach cam during the day (Google it). We've been to many of the islands and St Maarten is definitely one of the best.

Consider St. Thomas especially during Carnival, Nassau in the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico and Barbados off the top of my head.

thanks so much.. we are looking to go May 20- May 30. is that too long for one place? want to stay 4star, and I heard puerto rico is spring break. We live in Southern California, so the bbeaches are nice, but really looking for an exotic vacation where we can relax and mix it up. I heard Turks and Caicos, Bermuda are really "slow and quiet", so if you have been to athe islands, what is the most "fun and exciting". Thanks Thanks Thanks

Consider that the water and air temperature should be warmer in Provo in late May than in BDA where I went to school. Better food options in Provo as well.

Jr, I would recommend Puerto Rico. My husband and I were there about 3 or 4 years ago (before we were married) and we had an absolute blast. The food is great, there are beautiful hotels, great night life, casinos, historic monuments to see, friendly people, lively music, ecological parks, beautiful beaches and lots to do and see. We spent 1 week there during the month of May. We stayed at the El Dorado Hyatt and absolutely loved it. We stayed in a suite with a beachfront view, it had a casino, bar & a private beach & good pools. It was a bit far from the city but was beautiful. I know there are other hotels in downtown Puerto Rico but probably not as nice since they are not beach front. The driving is a little crazy... so you'll need some patience for that. We rented a car while we were there. Prices were reasonable. They have great bars, street parties and fairs and lots of salsa. There are a dozen things to do while you are out there and I would strongly recommend it. However, the beaches are not as beautiful as those in Cancun. Btw - Cancun is another wonderful destination.

Hey all, Same boat as Jr. Going away for 5 days late may/early June. Only really care about 4 things. 1. Clubs and nightlife 2. Clear Beautiful water/beaches 3. Snorkeling/Diving 4. Deep Sea fishing I think the crowd I am going for is looking for a spring break type of nightlife, with chill days. Any advice? Thanks

hey, I too are in the same exact boat. My friend and I are want to go away June 9-16 and want to go someplace where the night life is crazy. we want to make sure we pick the right place because we don't want to be stuck at a resort where there is just couples and families. so what resorts are good for us to go to make sure we are spending our vacation with young people like ourselves.

Try Hedonism III in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. My sister and her friend went a while ago, and they had the time of their lives. They should have everything you're looking for (wink) Try also Mexico like Cabo or Cancun.

Hi again.. Thanks for replies regarding Puerto Rico and Mexico, but I've been to basically all of Mexico, as well as Hawaii, Costa Rica, Bali, and my sister has already been to Jamaica and Puerto Rico.. I live in Los Angeles, and I want something different. Wondering if any island in the Caribbean has anything to do besides just chill at hotel resort. Definitely want to spend my days at the beach, maybe rent a car and drive around into any towns, but want option of going out at night - doesn't have to be crazy spring break at all, just don't want to get stuck somewhere where everybody is asleep at 10. St. Martin? St. Barts? St. Croix? Barbados? Bermuda? Turks and Caicos? I've heard they are all "quiet, romantic, and slow". Please help!! Thanks!

My suggestions would be Aruba, St. Thomas, or St. Maarten. They all have draw backs though. Aruba is not exactly exotic - scrubby little island like a desert, but great diving, safe, fun, clean. It was the first island that I visited, and it is still my favorite. St. Thomas is lively and you can island hop - go over to St. John or check out the British islands. St. Maaten is really fun. The french side is more laid back, but the food and the beaches are better. The nightlife is better on the Dutch side. The diving is not great. St. Maarten is good for island hopping though. Anguilla is fabulous (15 minute ferry ride), but definitely one of the quietest islands. You can take the ferry to St. Bart's for the glamour or dive in Saba. I would avoid Provo (super quiet), St. Croix (quiet) and Bahamas.
