Biking in Sequoia and Kings

We'll be visiting the park on July 7-9 and am wondering about road or mountairn biking. We are very fit and not afraid of hills. We live in Sedona, AZ and are used to altitude (yes, we are escaping the fire. The FS is closing the Coconino National Forest this Friday.) If no biking could someone recommend a good 3 hour hike. A commercial hiking tour would be fantastic!

From the forum it sounds like ThreeRivers is a good place to stay and Seauoia Tours has very good tours.

Thanks so much for your help!

There's no mountain biking in the National Parks, though there may be in the adjacent Sequoia National Forest and National Monument. You can road bike, but with the traffic on the main highway, I don't know how safe that is. There's a 5000 foot climb from Three Rivers up to the Giant Forest grove, over 15 or 20 miles.

There are lots of hikes in the Giant Forest area, there's a series of four or five maps for different sections of the park, that describe hikes of various lengths and difficulties. I recommend the Trail of the Sequoias between Crescent Meadow and General Sherman.

Oh, hey, I just thought of Mineral King. If you were up for it you can bike 25 miles and about 6000 feet to the end of the road there. Or you could bike on the roads in Kings Canyon, there isn't as much traffic there, and there is a dirt road, River Road, open to cars, but they are slow on that road.
