RV friendly roads in Sequoia national park

I have been reading through the different forums on this park, and am wondering how limited I am going to be with my rv. We have a 27ft rv and we`d like to camp in the park for 2 nights. Is it possible to stay in one of the parks (in the southern end of the park) and then take the shuttle to the sites? Can anyone suggest a camping area in the park?

After we leave this park, we are heading towards Yosemite. Is it worth visiting Kings Canyon if our time is limited?

Hi there, Sherry. You'll have to use highway 180 to get into the park. I'd then turn south on the General's Highway and try to stay at Lodgepole. You don't say what time of year you'll be there, though. There's a shuttle that takes people to the major trailheads and sights from Lodgepole, but it only runs May to October (not sure what day in October it closes, or if it always runs into October). Website now says "summer shuttle," but I know it was still running last September. At any rate, you can't take a 27 foot RV past the History Museum down to Crystal Cave, and I'm not sure they allow at 27 footer on the road to Crescent Meadow.

But, you can hike to Crescent Meadow from the General Sherman tree, where there is certainly RV parking.

Both Dorst and Lodgepole have RV campsites, but Dorst closes for the winter sometime in October...so the dates are important.

Things open back up again in May - Dorst may not open until mid-June, but Lodgepole will be open.

Not sure I'd go to Kings Canyon with such a short time frame.

I think my answer would be no.

Hello Adam S and welcome to TripAdvisor. I see you've just joined today!

Are you connected in any way with that resort? You should know that TripAdvisor does not allow any advertising in the forums and since your first post is to recommend this place, it may be interpreted as advertising and might be removed.

That resort is *nowhere near* either Yosemite or Sequoia / Kings Canyon!

Kings Canyon is awesome, but I think I'd rather hike down to the bottom than try to drive an rv in. (But I drive a small car...Take a look at the pics of the road.) The fact that you're going to Yosemite would clinch it. I'd stick with the big trees up top.
