Desert View is about 25 miles from the lodge area and the drive there will include several view point stop options. Go beyond Desert View and you'll exit the park.
In the opposite direction from the hotel zone you can ride the shuttle to Hermit Rest and back with similar stops and views. Minimal walking required.
If, in the unlikely possibility that you get your fill of the GC on those two routes in your short time there, the third direction you can drive is south, out of the park to the tourist housing town of Tusayan. The IMAX theatre there is worth visiting.
Keep in mind that one need not be walking all of the time to get the most out of the Grand Canyon. In fact, your time there will be enhanced if you'll just sit down and spend time with nothing moving but your eyes. That's when you'll realize how grand it is. Try as you may, you won't be able to see everything that is in front of you. Keep looking. You'll discover something else, every moment that you are watching.
