Gasoline prices in Death Valley

These are the gasoline prices, per gallon, in Death Valley last week:

$ 4.32 at Stovepipe Wells

$ 5.34 at Furnace Creek

$ 5.98 at Panamint Springs

This is for 87 octane "regular" gas and compares to $ 3.79 in the L. A. area.

Stovepipe Wells sells only the 87 octane gas.

Nice prices are down. Hope they stay that way by spring!

As we have a truck while there it is always a debate as to where to buy gas. One trip, leaving FC to Scotty's Castle, etc., we knew we needed more gas. So we sidetracked to SPW to fill up. That round trip back to the intersection of 190 and 174 was 15 miles. So we used between 3/4-1 gallon of gas. The gas used for that would have made up the difference if we had payed the higher price at FC, not including the extra time spent driving to SPW.

So depending on what type of vehicle you are driving, often going out of your way for cheaper gas may not be worth it at times. Though that difference in price between the two is a lot more than it was in 2010.

There's also some temptation to drive to Beatty, NV for $ 3.66 gas.
