How Many Days in Death Valley? Itinerary?

How Many Days in Death Valley? Itinerary?

We live in N. California and are planning to drive to Death Valley at the end of March. We don't have any time constraints. I would like to know how many days is necessary to see all the sights. What would be the best route with in the park to take to see the major sites?

depends how much hiking you want to do. i'd recommend 3 nights allowing 2.5-3 full days to sight see. do the tour at scotty's castle. if you want to do a lot of hiking, you would walk 3-4 full days. the furnace creek ranch has a nice pool if you enjoy relaxing around a pool.

There is no such thing as too much time in Death Valley. If you want to do some hiking, more time is good. The thread about visiting in November with kids is from a family with 3 days to spend there. They will have time to see and do quite a lot, but TBH, no one ever sees it all in one or a dozen visits.

I think we need to know more about you and your interests. Who is coming--family with youngsters, adults only, anyone with mobility challenges? What do you enjoy seeing and doing? It goes without saying that everyone who comes to Death Valley is interested in the great unique natural wonders, but there are also magnificent landscapes, desert plants, wildlife, historic sites, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and dark skies for stargazing. The more time you have, the more you can enjoy these in a leisurely way. What kind of vehicle will you have? A 4wd and/or high clearance will give you more options, or you can rent a fully backcountry-ready Jeep Wrangler from Farabee's at Furnace Creek Inn.

Look over some of the past threads for ideas, and check out the park website for descriptions and pictures. Some of the past threads have suggested itineraries. We'll be glad to answer specific questions or go into more detail about things to do.

As Frissy says, to those of us that love the place and keep going back and never ever could see the sites, this is a most interesting question. As she says it depends so much on you. This is one HUGE place, gigantic, and just driving around from place to place takes hours and hours.

Tell us what you like and we will try and help out.

Oh, it would also help to know your lodging or camping plans.

And you probably know that you won't be able to go through Tioga or Sonora Pass in March, so you have your choice of going ia Bakersfield or Tahoe.
