Dewa Phuket or Nai Yang Beach Resort (plus Car rental !)

Hi All,

Looking to perhaps spend a week at either the Dewa or Nai Yang Beach in February.

Looked at reviews here on TA and previous forum threads but just wondering if anybody with recent experience of either (appreciate there is a recent 'ish Dewa thread) could perhaps give additional opinions and thoughts please as to current state of play ?

On balance I think the Dewa looks the “better” choice but rooms at Nai Yang BR come in a little less expensive so just wondering how say the Junior Suite at Dewa might compare to a Thai Deluxe at NYBR. The individual villas at Dewa look nice but in February they are just a little pricey for our budget.

Looking at Google Streetview the NYBR seems just a little nearer the eating places on the beach road – it doesn't look too much of a hassle to walk down from Dewa though (or would it) ?

Also just wondering how much a car rental might be locally for just a day or two at most (I'm not a moped/motorcycle person) – if anybody could perhaps give some idea it would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Hi All,

A somewhat delayed follow up post but just to say we had a great stay at the Dewa earlier in the year and are pretty certain we will be going back to Nai Yang (and the Dewa) in the not too distant future.

We had a Junior Suite on the top floor (requested) which was great and we could not really find anything to fault with it. It is sometime since we had a “Hotel Room” as holiday accommodation but it was spacious, clean and comfortable and we would certainly be happy stopping longer next time.

All the staff we came into contact with were very friendly, efficient. Breakfast was good with a good selection. We had one evening meal at the Hotel which again was good but we did enjoy going down to the village when eating out on an evening.

It would have been nice if the Hotel Bar stopped open a little longer as we had came back to the hotel on a couple of occasions to find it closed as things seemed quite quite.

We didn't spend too much time around the pool – preferring to wander over the road to Nai Yang beach. I'm not sure how busy it gets but we didn't have a problem in being able to use the sunbeds and umbrellas provided on the beach. I made use of the “Free” bikes on a couple of occasions – if anything that was perhaps the only disappointing aspect as they really needed a little maintenance and some TLC. There were some decent MTB's available but were part of the “sporting activities” and were available to hire by the hour.

As mentioned all the hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate requests – especially in sorting out a couple of Polo Shirts (Thanks Lillian !).

We walked down into Nai Yang most evenings and whilst hotels such as Nai Yang Beach Resort are a little near the Beach Restaurants and bars the short walk from/to the Dewa wasn't an issue.

We didn't hire a car in the end – made use of the Hotel Bus to Patong on one day which was just fine – it might be something we consider on a future (longer) visit but there were quite a few local rental pl;aces so that wouldn't be a problem to sort out on the day.

The Dewa certainly gets our thumbs up !

Rgds

No second thoughts...4 trips to dewa and now we are planning a fifth ...somehow dewa has become synonymous with Phuket for us....the pool villas are downright romantic....And we have always hired the car from the hotel....

For those of you who have stayed at the dewa and nai yang beach, how easy is it to book Excursions? Can you easily get them from the hotel or are there any tour operators in the village?
