Staying in this resort end of June. First time in Langkawi.
Is there laundromat or laundry facilities outside the hotel?
There is a laundry along near Underwater World, which is round about 15 minutes walk from Pelangi.
Word of warning! Do not take anything that is really special and sort your laundry into colours or they will put everything in together.
If you turn left out of the Pelangi there is another new laundry (dobi) service next to the Cenang supermarket. About the same distance.

Thanks to you both. Also quick question. We are getting a sea view room. I gather it is a 2 storey hut. Should we ask for the upper floor or the lower? In other words, which floor do the bats favour? Been reading abt the bats.
Sorry, can't help you with the bats! lol
if you want to attract bats; wear fruit or vanilla scented lotions or perfumes and emit high pitched sounds. after a recent correspondence with another member, i recommend electronic hearing aids!
of course, if you want to avoid bats, the reverse is true.
at berjaya i have had some success in calling them down by whistling.
Actually i am not a batwoman looking for a bat cave!! I am just an ordinary woman looking for a bat free lodging. Thanks for your tips on how to avoid them. My ear piercing voice may act as a lure but i will try and keep my voice low and husky.
it was a bit difficult to guess whether you wanted to attract or avoid them, lol.
it would be quite unusual to get bats inside your room. there are plenty of nicer homes for them. langkawi has lots of different types, but basically they fall into 2 groups, insectiverous and fructiverous.
fruit bats search by scent. they particularly like the scent of vanilla, fruit and roses. so, i would recommend sticking to a simple perfume of lavender during your holiday. lavender also helps to repel mosquitos which can also be attracted to perfumes.
insectiverous bats follow insects! you are most likely to see them if you sit on your balconey with the light on, since moths are attracted to the light. you can often see clouds of insects around street lamps, and a bat darting around gobbling them up.
i know you were jesting about your voice, but it does seem that if you shriek or squeal they will come to see what you are. they have no interest whatsoever in getting caught in your hair though..........
finally, if you think they are roosting on your balcony, take a good sniff! they stink. you'll know if you've got them, lol.
We stayed at the Pelangi in Feb. this year and loved it. We stayed on upper floor in beachfront room (912) and did not see one bat.
We also used the laundry on a couple of occasions. Turn left at the front gate and the laundry is probably about a 500 metre walk. No clothes were damaged
and the staff were lovely. There is also a supermarket where you can purchase water and other soft drinks etc. Enjoy your stay!
interesting that you stayed in a beachfront room. My 18 year old daughter is also staying with us. Is it spacious enough for 3?
The room was quite spacious, but the bed was larger than King size, so it would be quite cramped with another bed and adult in the same room.
There may be some other rooms more suitable for families.
Perhaps contact management who should be able to help you.
