Prices in Alykes
Save

Hi All

Myself and my boyfriend are going to Alykes in August for one week. Do you think £500 would be enough (just over 600Euro)?

Also can anyone advise me on the price for the Blue Caves trip?

Many thanks!

Hi there

You can make it as cheap or expensive as you like. Ill give you an idea of prices.

€3 onwards for starter

€6 onwards for a main meal

€2 onwards for dessert

We average on around €20/25 for our evening meal bill.

You can also get a cheap meal in Pita break anything from around €3+ if i remember, they do excellent gyros!

€2.50 for Mythos & other local beers. You pay more for the imported - Soft drinks are around the same price.

€5 for spirits INC mixer

Local produce is cheap in the super markets, we used the supermarket in Katastari, as its cheaper than Montes on the main cross roads. This might be a bit of a walk though depending on where you're staying. Its a 10/15min walk for us. However Spirits are alot more expensive than the UK because of Tax. So if you drink spirits you might be best getting yourself started and bringing a bottle per person from Duty free or what ever you lot call it these days!

The blue caves will probably be no more than €15/20 euro per person, there are different types some half days or full days etc. And you can haggle the prices sometimes to get it a bit cheaper.

You can print off free wine vouchers off this website, more will probably be added further into the season. So keep checking this and print them out as you see them!

Let me know if i can help you with anything else, This is my fourth year on the run back to Alykes. I love it:)

We average 100 euros a day.12 euros full engish breakfast and 30 euros for main meal with drinks and tip.Seems a lot of drinking money left but we do tend to over excess at night.Better add we both buy ciggies and in the ammount is water, snacks, bits and bobs for the hotel room.So if you are not big drinkers then 600 euro should be enough.Maybe take the plastic just in case. The blue caves, shipwreck boat trip costs 25 euro each if you go from Zante town but im sure you can do the trip from your resort.I know when we stopped of here a few years ago they were running a boat to the caves.

Thank you both that's a great help to me.

Doyley 156, we are staying at Nikos Studios in Alykes, I will have to look at a map to see where Katastari is in relation to that hotel.

Thanks for advice on taking free wine vouchers!! Silly question but are you allowed to but a bottle (e.g. Archers) in the case to take away? I cannot remember if you are allowed or if we will have to buy something in duty free

Thanks for your help this has cleared things up for us a tad! I think we will be fine with £500 and take a card just in case!

You're welcome! Local wine to buy in the supermarkets is also very cheap i recommend a type called Apelia.

I think Montes is closer to where you're staying. But don't quote me on it!

I think you can put it in your HOLD luggage but we don't incase it breaks and ruins the clothes! - Have a search online for the answer or someone might help you with this as i'm not 100% sure.

You will more than likely be fine, as i said you can make it as cheap or expensive as you like - thats the great thing about Zante.

you can put any size bottle in a suit case but best wrap it in towels however due to security you cannot even take a small bottle of water in hand luggage.only size allowed is about the size of a miniature bottle.

To walk to Katastari would take quite a while from the Nikos and obviously you will need to carry everything you buy home again so I would rather pay a bit more and use the local supermarkets.

The nearest supermarket to Nikos is at the Sydney House (by Virago bar) around a 100yards away, next nearest is probably the one on the other corner of the Salt Lakes by what used to be the S&B bar or the Montes on the high street.

With regards to spending money, last couple of times we have been there the two of us have averaged around £100 a day (with Euros rates around 1.22), this includes car hire for three days and a visit to the Waterpark, a couple of lunchtime drinks and food and an evening meal followed by a few drinks.

What I would say is take around a £700 for a week and have your bank or credit card handy in case you run out of money on the last day or two.

Hope this helps.
