If you are interested in night life, Among Shinjuku, Shibuya and Roppongi is your choice.

If you are not, you can find as convenient yet cheaper areas around JR Yamanote loop line.

By the way, how many are you?

The above options for the night life are good. If you want an area that is more old Tokyo and traditional asakusa is a good spot to stay. Still close to the city, also can be close to asakusa station so easy to get back to Narita by train if you want to.
