Vossem

I'm planning on visiting some family in Vossem around September time. Can anyone tell me how to get from Brussels Midi to Vossem? Are there any hotels nearby (they will just have had a new baby so space is a little limited for staying with them).

Thanks.

Vossem is just beyond the big park (grounds of the Africa Museum) at Tervuren, which does not have a station. Apart from De Lijn buses from Gare du Nord, the only public transport in that direction is the 44 tram which starts at Montgomery (reachable by metro, changing at Arts-Loi, or 82 tram - direct but takes about 30 mins to reach Montgomery - from Gare du Midi). If you have suitcases, this is only convenient if someone will be meeting you at Tervuren with a car, as the tram terminates there and it's still some way to Vossem. If you are not being met, therefore, it would be better take the metro as far as Montgomery, where there is a taxi rank, and then a taxi to Vossem/Tervuren/wherever you would be staying. However, if you stay out there, you will be relying on your family to shuttle you about between Tervuren and Vossem - unless of course they know of e.g. a B&B close to where they live.

Hotels in the area:

http://www.hotelrastelli.be/contact.html, in Tervuren

www.lavignette.be, in Wezembeek-Oppem which borders on Tervuren and is close to Vossem.

Or you might consider staying around Mérode/Montgomery in Brussels itself, it depends on what would be convenient for your family in terms of coming to get you. For example if one of them works in Brussels, you might want to stay near their office.
