Hi there Sally

You definitely need permission to get married on a beach in Cape Town or any beach in South Africa for that matter. Take a look at this website, maybe it can help you?

Yes and the local Municipality will be able to give you advice. We organised a wedding for a couple in the lighthouse on Cape Point a few years back, so anything is possible!

Also, keep in mind that the beaches in Gordon's Bay are quite popular, especially Bikini Beach. On a warm sunny day the beach will be absolutely packed. I once saw a wedding at Bikini Beach in the height of summer holidays. The beach was absolutely packed so the bride had to struggle her way through the crowd. The guests incredibly hot as there was no shade and all the wedding pictures would have had people in their swimming costumes in the background staring at the wedding.

Just something to keep in mind when choosing the beach, time and date. Good luck with your organising the wedding! Gordon's Bay is magical at sunset.

When I arrange our marriage we went to a local municipality office, they had loads of info, we contacted a vicar from the list & visited him, he said we could get married anywhere & he arranged all the appropriate documents.

Good Luck !

Hi Sally

Here are 3 contacts for AMAZING wedding co-ordinators. They'll be able to help plan & organise both the ceremony and the reception for you. I agree with Bliss - you want to be very careful as you really don't want the world standing by at such an emotional time. There are lots of little 'alcove' beaches around the Cape area which will afford you some privacy...
