Day trips from El Roble - book in advance?

We are going to El Roble soon and will be staying at the Doubletree for 9 days. Will have a car and plan to drive around some but also hoped to do some tours - rainforest/ziplining, the Arenal volcano, national parks nearby. Is there a company we should try to book with in advance or can we do it while there? Also, are some trips easy enough to do on your own or is using a tour company better?

You can do some tours on your own...like Manuel Antonio National Park...just 2 hours away...easy ride full day tour...once in MA yo can hire a guide.

Also Monteverde...about 2 hours ride...nice day to see the majestic cloud forest...

Also on the way to Manuel Antonio...Carara an Tarcolescgreat to see wild crocs and red macaws...

You really do not need any middle company or person to book anything...try not to pay anything in advance...now days even want a be travel writers are trying to get your money...
