Jamaica has mostly all inclusive resorts as the island is not the safest. You can venture out of the resort but generally recommended for excursion. Dunn's River Falls is really the most common "excursion".

If you want a relatively inexpensive trip with a party atmosphere and you are OK with staying at the resort Jamaica should work. If you are interested in great diving or snorkeling than Roatan wins hands down.

Bobbie....................Jamaica, like everywhere else, has it's share of less expensive properties, and it's share of high-end luxury resorts.....you may want to look into the Sandals resorts, geared to couples and honeymoon, or anniversary celebrants, with their gourmet menus, white glove service, canopy beds and flower strewn jacuzzi baths drawn by your private butler each evening ...............the Iberostar Grand Resort is another one to look at, with similar amenities as above, an award winning, adult only, luxury resort, and there are others.................if interested in Jamaica, the best place to get real in depth advice is a forum for Jamaica............the Iberostar Grand and it's sister Grand Hotels at Playa Paraiso and Punta Cana have never been considered by their guests as "party hotels".................once again, try this question on a Jamaica forum for the Destination Experts advice..........
