Are there schedule changes on TGV in October?

I am trying to book TGV train from Avignon to Paris CDG on 10/21. The fares are astronomical, and the last train leaves at 17:55 even 3 months out! BUT, on October 15, there is a train departing at 18:52 that is reasonable. However, that train is not on the schedule for October 21. I am wondering if there is a change in schedule that time of year?

Seems the last train leaves at 17:51 from Avignon. These are the prices I obtained (10/21) from

http://en.voyages-sncf.com/en/ (SNCF official site)

15:21 € 65.50

17:21 € 54.50

Timetable change does not occur until Dec 8th, so I don't know why the difference. Some of the above schedule seems to go via Marnee la Valle, so have you explored using the low cost TGV? (€ 15 from Avignon to Marnee la Valle)

TGV schedules are different according to day of the week, month of the year, phase of the moon and various other factors. Many trains do not run every day, which is why you see different things on different days. The major timetable changes are in June and December, as they are throughout Europe. They also use pricing models that raise or lower fares according to demand, or lack of. Just like airlines.

Most trains from Avignon run to Paris Gare de Lyon, not the airport station at Charles de Gaulle. You might get a cheaper fare that way but it would mean taking a suburban RER train out from the city to the airport,

I have looked at 21st October. The last train with a connection to CDG is at 1751 and is currently priced at €54,50 for a non exchangeable non refundable ticket, €111.50 for a flexible ticket but only €74.50 in 1st class for a fairly flexible ticket. Some earlier trains are cheaper but already signs are out, so to speak, that the cheapest tickets are already in short supply.

If you are feeling really brave, there is a low cost train high speed train option at http://www.ouigo.com

These trains are only bookable on line, they have baggage restrictions, check in restrictions and horrendous seating but you can get from Avignon to Paris Marne la Vallée for 15 Euros on 21st October.

Although these trains are run by SNCF they are a totally separate operation.

Thank you for your responses--and the suggestion of taking lower cost train to Marne la Vallee was spot on--it explained the problem (I think). The lower cost TGV that I had seen the week before began in Avignon and continued on to airport. But on 10/21, the last train from Marne/Disneyland, is no longer available--I would guess that is the part that is seasonal. So I will book the earlier direct route. Thanks again!
