Has anyone had a last minute cancellation with airbnb?
We just experienced it. We had booked 7 nights with an owner and received noticed the day before at 3 pm that it was cancelled and we were to fly out at 6 am the next day.
So we had to find new accommodations at the very last minute, which ended up being far more expensive. Airbnb provided no REAL assistance as we had to find the replacement and they just gave us a very small credit which they made up our subsequent rental.
If we (the renter) had cancelled we would have had to paid 50% of the rental. In this case, the financial impact to the owner is zero. This really is a one-sided situation in favor of the owners.
