 Beware Bookinhotels.com scam

Bookinhotels.com is a con - scam - fraud

My husband made a reservation through them (and gave them his credit card number) for a hotel in London BEFORE checking out their reputation (December 2008). He immediately felt uneasy about it and tried to cancel it. They make it very difficult to find a place on their site to cancel. And their phone number was answered by a voice mail impossible to understand (NY area code but business based in Turkey).

In subsequent emails, they first said they would cancel the reservation but it would take 10-15 days to give a credit. Another email said the reservation was cancelled and the credit card had never been billed (it had been). After 20 days, still no credit. Contacted Visa and they credited the acccount while they investigate. (We sent copies of all emails.)

Eight weeks later and, of course, no credit from them. DO NOT USE THEM. YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR MONEY. OTHER POSTINGS ON OTHER SITES TELL OF RESERVATIONS THAT WERE NEVER HONORED BY THE HOTELS.

I used Bookinhotels for several reservations last september in Brazil. The hotel rates I was able to get were very good. The first reservation in Rio went without a hitch, the second one in Fortaleza has become a problem as the hotel said they never received the reservation. They did somehow have teh correct rate that was given to me by book in hotels. Anyway. Uponm my return to Canada I sent bookin hotels copies of my payment to the hotel and asked for a refund. They acknowledge that a refund is due to me but I have yet to receive it despite many emails back and forth saying that they have processed my refund. This has been almost 6 months now and I am about to request a chargeback on Visa.

I had a business trip back from New Orleans in April.

At first, I read too many negative memos about

bookinhotels.com and I was very nervous.

But, I would like to inform you that this company is

a good company and I have saved money and I paid much much lower rate than hotel's standard rate.

"Intercontinental"

I understand that their customer service level was

not EXCELLENT compared to other companies. They need to work on training their customer service staff.

Overall, the rate was good and I received the professional e-mail from them.I also told them about negativeness and positiveness about their company.

I am going to book one more time and will inform you

of my experiences again.

After speaking with the hotel i reserved in february for August this year i got a an confirmation from the hotel today, so i believe the bookinhotels are not a Scam, but i'm sure that many people have poor experience from this booking site, its very cheap so if you want to take the risk i will recommend it.

I talked to a friend in a bank, he said companies like this usually bill the credit card after a confirmation, and its only reserved from the credit card until that time.

I want to add a furthur warning about this company. Myself and my husband booked through Bookinhotels.com in May for 2 nights in the Hilton in Dubrovnik in July. Got the voucher and thought all was fine until we turned up at the hotel to be told it was overbooked and we had to be relocated to a different hotel. Bookinhotels were to have informed us apparrently, but they hadn't. After making quite a fuss it transpired that the Hilton wasn't overbooked but that Bookinhotels had sold rooms at a rate that was too low. I guess that the Hilton refused to accept this and Bookinhotels decided to move everyone to a hotel that was 30 mins walk out of town. This all happened just a day or two before our reservation which considerig we'd booked since May was laughable.

Our major problem with this was we chose the Hilton due to its location near to the old city and the fact that my husband had a recent injury and was unable to walk much. We ended up spending a fortune on taxis going to and fro and were also put in a twin room not a double as booked. We contacted Bookinhotels travel agent in Dubrovnik who refused to apologise or accept they were in any way at fault. The HIlton also claimed no responsibility saying it was totally the fault of the booking agent. We will persue a refund of the extra costs incurred for the taxis we had to use and would warn people to be very wary of using this website.

5. Re: Beware Bookinhotels.com scam

another complaint about bookinhotels.com here.

We made a reservation for a hotel several weeks in advance. When we arrived at hotel the reservation was cancelled. It turned out we had received an email from bookinhotels that same day saying the booking was cancelled, no reason given, and it would take several weeks before we could get my money back. There were enough rooms available at the hotel, the hotel itself saw no reason to cancel.

The situation at the hotel was very inconvenient since we had to pay much more than the original booking.

get my money back.

Paul.

Bookinhotels has scammed me too.

Having spoken to my card company and Trading Standards it looks as though im powerless to do anything about getting my money back as bookinhotels have been clever about the way they have set themselves up leaving me without the necessary info to make claims like even an address for example. As they are possibly based in another country that also renders me powerless!

I have decided to write to Watchdog in hope that they can do something about this and make it more public!

I have added a link below to the Watchdog site for people to email their bookinhotels story and hope that if enough people write in then Watchdog will take a look in to this case and do what they can.

Do not use this company. It is a scam. I booked a hotel in Geneva 3 months before I was due to travel, only to receive an email the night before to say the reservation was cancelled.

They claim to have an office in London, but are actually based in Istanbul. I've copied a section from their email informing me that the reservation was cancelled. It doesn't make much sense, but note the claim that it will take up to two months to get my money back.

"Please note that refunds are made in the form of a credit to yourcard account. All credit card refunds are processed in a timelymanner. Typically, this process takes several weeks (business days)for the instruction to leave our company account. The refundsprocess depends on your billing cycle with the cooperated credit cardcompany. Once the refunded amount leaves our company account, itmay take up to two months time for the proceeds to appear back inyour account."

I know that I'll never see my money again.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- IT IS A SCAM.

I agree totally that this company is a scam and that no-one should use them when booking hotels/holidays.

Unfortunately I hadn't seen the postings before I booked a hotel in Bruges with them. When I saw that the payment had gone to Istanbul I felt uneasy and read the awful reviews. I confirmed with the hotel that they had got my booking and thought I was one of the lucky ones.

We arrived at the hotel to be told that the booking had been cancelled the previous Saturday (we arrived Tuesday).Fortunately the hotel still had space to accommodate us but I had to pay again.

Arrived back home to find an e-mail stating the following:

"due to the financial issues between our supplier and us we couldnot honor your booking therefore full refund is going to be made to your credit card provided."

Tried to contact them but have been unable to do so.

I have now been in contact with my credit card company to try and sort out that way.

I would recommend that people DO NOT BOOK anything with this company.
