united kingdom

Anyone ever go to England to do record searches. Where would one go and what B & B or hotels would you recommend.

Hi DAL ~

You have inadvertently posted on the Support Forum which is meant for asking questions about how to use Trip Advisor.

Posting on a destination forum would be the way to go. Are you talking about genealogy records? That destination forum would depend entirely on what county your ancestors lived in. Each county will have a Registrar's Office. There are so many websites now, but travel is such a nice way to go. And there are so many Family History Societies that woukd help you as well.

www.ancestry.com (from your public library if you don't want to pay the subscription)

www.findmypast.co.uk is a pay sight but very good. Your library may have a subscription for you to piggyback on.

Google for Family History Societies in England, eg Lancashire FHS.

Ontario Genealogical Society would be happy to help you. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they organized semi-annual group trips to England.

Again, though, you will have to sort your counties.

This is the Trip Advisor Support forum. Post in the England forum tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g186217-i16-Engl… and make it clear what you mean by a records search.

If you mean looking for 45 and 33 1/3 rpm vinyl, try second hand shops and markets all over London.

If you mean looking for details of where your ancestors lived, much of it is on the internet, and if its not but is in paper form, it would be near where your ancestors lived and the hotels and B&Bs would be the ones in their vicinity !

As well as posting in the above forum, you'd be well advised to find a forum outside of TA dealing either with second hand vinyl or ancestry searches.
