Contributors need more encouragement to continue reviewing

Once one's reached 'top contributor' status, it's difficult for reviewers to feel that they're contributions are actually valued. The feedback rates are so low in general that these scores have no bearing on the number of times a review has been read. I think the time has come for TripAdvisor to think of other ways of encouraging contributors to continue their hard work.

I think it's okay to have some sort of card or letter tucked into the portfolio in the room that holds other information about a hotel or resort, but to actively court guests to submit reviews is unseemly.

I've written reviews of most motels, hotels and resorts I've stayed at over the past 10 years, and not once have I ever made my TripAdvisor handle known to staff or management. I think that would cross a line.
