Hello,

My hubby and I are doing the 3 day cruise (his first cruise my 3rd) with Royal Caribbean (my 1st on them) for our 1 year anniversary and stopping at Coco Cay. We are hoping someone can give us some fun activities that don't involve a lot of money. We splurged on the Dolphin Swin in Nassau (via an idependent company) and would like a reasonable deal on the rest of our trip. We both love to be active (met skydiving) but neither are scuba certified. Jet skis sounded fun but expensive. Any advice would be LOVELY. Thanks. By the way, not sure if anyone knows of www.dolphinencounters.com that is who we booked our dolphin trip with. VERY reasonable compared to the "encounter" offered by the boat. Not sure if it is any good, but figured worth a try!

Booking your own tours is usually cheaper than booking thru the ship.

We visited Coco Cay a few years ago and just lounged on the beach and had a very nice barbeque lunch. You can walk away from the beach area and find some fairly secluded spots.

Only excursions available on this stop are with the cruise ship since it is their private island. We also used this stop as a day of relaxation to lounge on the beach and we went to the other side away from the bbq spot and found nice seclusion. If you take your own snorkle gear you can do that on your own or beach volleyball etc , but other than that only what the ship has to offer.

Enjoy, its a beautiful spot

As previous posters have said, you have no alternative on CocoCay but what Royal Caribbean offers for activities. The island is very nice and smaller than the map would have you believe. The jet skis were very popular when we were there, as were the banana boats and the parasailing.

We lounged on the beach, had some drinks, swam a bit, had the BBQ lunch and shopped at the Straw Market.

If you like to snorkel, Coco Cay does have a ship wreck (and a plane wreck too maybe) out in the water a little ways that I have heard are cool to see. We did not go out that far so I can't comment on it more than that. There is also a nature trail, once again we did not try it but we plan to when we return to Coco Cay in August.

RCI also offers kayaking at Coco Cay as well as a glass bottom boat tour in addition to the things other people have already mentioned. The best thing about Coco Cay is that due to lack of options you don't feel guilty about just relaxing on the beach all day.

Don't forget to look for the big iguanas!

My fiance and I just got back from our cruise last week and we stopped at Coco Cay. It was beautiful. Neither of us has ever snorkled so I thought that it would be fun. There are plenty of fish to see once you swim into the deeper water (it tends to be a little murkier near the shore). After swimming around for a while we ended up seeing a stingray. It's definately worth it to get an underwater camera if you are going to snorkle. Later in the afternoon we went back out and ended up encountering a 5 to 6 foot reef shark. It actually swam up behind me and was about 4 or 5 feet away from me. A cool experience to look back on but a little scary at the time. They people who work there say that sharks do swim through but they are pretty much harmless. If this makes you nervous, just stay amongst the groups of people snorkeling. We happened to venture further out where the water was deeper.

Sorry this is posted a little late, hope you havent gone yet. Was in Cococay a few years back and it was beautiful. My husband and I went on the jet-skiing tour. I was a little nervous so went on one with him and that also makes it a lot more affordable. It was amazing and we had so much fun. We are going back in October and we will be doing the tour again but this time I am getting my own. I was afraid it would be kind of boring since youre not on your own but with a group, but it was so awesome. They go full speed the whole time and then you stop in the middle of the ocean and she picks up a star fish and you are just standing on a sand bar in the middle of the ocean, petting this star fish. If we could only do one activity on this cruise, the jet-ski tour would of been the one. Definately worth the money. If you end up going, post a message so I can see if you enjoyed it as much as we did....

this island was beautiful, and if you walk far enough, there are lots of nice empty private parts of the beach...

chairs are provided...

water is very clean...

BBQ lunch was fantastic...

lots of vendors for those wanting t shirts, etc...

Hello!

Coco Cay is RCCL's private island, so you are a bit of a 'captive' audience, here.

The offer 'cabanas' that are right on the beach, and are comfortable and fun.

Take a chaise lounge, and remember that the Caribbean sun is strong, so be careful and don't burn, which can happen very quickly.

Have a great time!
