"Is it better to buy the tickets now or wait until next year?" - Nobody knows.

It is better to chek the prices and buy when you are comfortable with the price quoted. Then don't look back.

This said I wouldn't leave it until next year to buy a ticket (especially for March) as they do tend to rise the closer you get to travel.

See who flies the routes, sign up to their websites for sales offer notifications and keep checking prices and book directly with the airline. Don't try to chase the very best price, you will drive yourself nuts.

Remember, if you are happy and comfortable paying the price then it is a good fare.

Thanks TomC97 and MrMarcoos

Yes, these things change so rapidly its hard to keep up and as you say, one could go mad trying to get the lowest prices.

I find that buying 3 months out works well but as everyone has said, there are no guarantees as to when you'll get the lowest prices.

I would buy tickets whenever the next sale pops up.

There's plenty of time still to wait for the inevitable sales.

If you leave it too late another sale might not arrive.

how do you intend to travel from Singapore to New York, and how long do you plan to stay in Singapore before going to New York and the duration of stay in New York?

Generally speaking, tickets tend to get more expensive as it gets closer to the travel date. Seats are sold in tiers, with the cheapest being first, and as the plane fills up, the expensive seats are what's left. Of course, the airlines do have sales and you will find that if there are plenty of seats left closer to the day, they will have a sale to get rid of them. However, it is impossible to predict if this will happen or not.

My advice would be to book them whenever you see a price that you are happy with, and then don't look anymore :)

Usually best to purchase about 106 days and 12.43 hours before you fly. But much depends on why you are flying, from where to where, what class of travel, how you wish to pay and 92 other factors.

That's only true for flights from Heathrow, from Gatwick it's 107 days and 12.43 hours.

The true answer of course is "when you think you've got a good price at which point you never look at the current price again nor do you comment to the person sitting next to you on the flight who has invariably got a better deal than you have"

As has been mentioned, the "best" time to buy is when you are comfortable with the price quoted, and then the most important part - A little voice Inside my head said, "Don't look back. You can never look back." [Boys of Summer]. On every flight, there will always be someone who paid less for their ticket, than you did, but also some, who paid more.

Good luck,

Hunt
