Re: Confusing booking and refund process at Bravofly

I was looking to book a flight and searching for a good deal. I came across Bravofly. The ticket price made me think that this is a good deal. I went ahead with the booking and an hour later they sent me an email saying that the price of your flight has gone up by 222.94 eur. I almost immediately called them and said I do not want to process the booking. The Bravofly frozen the money on my bank account and now they are saying that it will take 3 to 20 days to release the money. I have spoken to Bravofly and they keep promising me that they will release my money as soon as possible but nothing has happened so far. I have been keep emailing them and I get same answer that it is in process. This is absolutely wrong that the Bravofly is holding my money for no reason and I never heard of a company that takes 20 days to refund the money especially when the price they offered was no longer available.

Has anyone got any suggestion how to get my money back in reasonable amount of time? Personally I would not recommend Bravofly to anyone else.

"Has anyone got any suggestion how to get my money back in reasonable amount of time?" - You have discovered one of the pitfalls of most 3rd party agents in that they do not have live prices. Making a booking and then being advised that the advertised fare is unavailable is a common tactic. Having paid by Debit Card you'll just have to wait for them to process the refund and if you get it back within 3 to 20 days then consider yourself lucky.

"Personally I would not recommend Bravofly to anyone else." - If you had searched here first you would have found various threads on Bravofly that would have convinced you not to book with them and I'm afraid that your warning will not deter others - the advice on the other threads didn't deter you.

Dear 223Dharmesh,

We're sorry to hear that we weren't able to confirm your booking request and honour the original price of your ticket quoted. Unfortunately airline prices are extremely dynamic therefore there can be a fare increase from one second to the next.

When taking payment from customers, we use a secure standard procedure called temporary credit limit where the amount the customer should pay upon booking is simply 'frozen' and not withdrawn from the customer's available funds.

It is a system aimed at protecting the customer's funds and whilst it affects the availability of your card, it means that technically no charge is made to your credit card until your booking is confirmed, therefore it doesn’t have any effect on your interest or clearing period.

We regret that you are not satisfied with the time taken to release the funds. Please could you reply to our private message with your 9-digit Bravofly ID so that we can aid you with speeding up the process.

Kind regards, Sofia

'Airline prices are extremely dynamic'

Bravofly speak for we don't have access to live pricing information so we don't know any more than you do how you much you will end up paying despite what was on your screen to lure you in..

223Dharmesh,

You've just learned the hard way why you should check forums like this BEFORE booking with third parties, not the other way around. There are hundreds of posts about Bravofly from dissatisfied customers, many with exactly the same issue you had.

And don't think other third party bookers are different. None of them post live fares in their search engines and very few check against the live fare before you pay. You'll have exactly the same issue (and more) with the likes of CheapoAir, eDreams, Opodo, fly.co.uk, and on and on.

Next time, use a meta search engine to find decent schedules and fares, and then book directly with the airline(s), who do have live fares.

Nick,

You might have better luck, if you contact "Sophia" via a PM (Private Message), as she has instructed the OP. Not sure if BravoFly will monitor this thread, after they have reached out to the OP.

Good luck, and sorry for your misfortune.

Dear Nick,

We are sorry to hear about the fact that you are still waiting for your refund to arrive.

Unfortunately I would like to inform you that this isn’t necessarily an automatic process. As per the terms and conditions agreed upon booking, it may take up to 12 months for the airline to process a refund however these timings do vary greatly depending on both the airline and the type of cancellation.

Bravofly ensures however that as soon as it has been processed by the airline the amount will be returned to the passenger.

Could you please send us more details by replying to our private message and we will also check with the airline as to the latest on the status of your refund.

Many thanks, Sofia
