Connecting to US Airways from American Airlines at CLT

Has anyone connected to a US Airways flight from an AA flight recently? I'm about to purchase a ticket on AA.com which includes a US Airways flight. The AA to US connection is all domestic with 1.5 hours between them. All AA.com says is to contact US Airways for the seat assignment. Has this type of connection been easy for anyone else?

Without the routes and flight numbers, it might be possible that the AA connection is actually a US codeshare flight, which means US Airways operates it. Have you clicked over to US or AA's websites and checked the flight status for today's or yesterday's flights with the same numbers or by city pair?

Since the merger, if you go on aa.com, it lists both flights operated by AA and by US Air. The flights operated by US Air are noted as such. Once you book the ticket, you'll get both an AA and a US Air PNR number. You can select a seat from the US Air website. Very easy.

As far as making the connection, I do not know CLT at all so others will have to comment if AA and US Air share a terminal there or if you'll have to go between terminals.

Thank you both. The first two legs are AA operated and the third leg is US Airways operated.

I have found CLT to be an easy airport to get around. It's not that big and it is well organized. You should have plenty of time as long as your arrival is on time or close to it.

Agree with runner, CLT is well organized and easy to navigate. So only hitch would be if arriving flight is really delayed.

"So only hitch would be if arriving flight is really delayed."

Even then it would be more of a hassle than a real problem. Since the 2 airlines have merged, you should be protected and be put on the next US Air or AA flight (with available seating) to your final destination.

Not sure if CLT has made the change yet or not, but AA and US are co-locating their operations now. The smaller carrier(AA in this case) is moving closer to or in the same terminal as the larger one.
