For the the U/M websites it states that a parent needs to show ID to pick up a child. If a 15/16 year old is flying solo not using the U/M program do they need this signature. Or are they traveling just like a normal adult? Thanks

If you decide to not use the UM service and the airlines allows that, the child will travel just like a normal adult.

But note that you might need to fill out some consent letters for immigration officials if your child travels internationally.

Check the travel.gc.ca site. I used the sample letter of consent many times when my child was travelling from Canada to the US.
