Paddington to Heathrow terminal 3

Im travelling to paddington via FGW and then to transfer across to Heathrow terminal 3, as we have a few hours to spare before we need to be at the airport we have thought about taking the cheaper/longer route to the airport (coming back we will just come via the connect)

Am i right in following the below journey..

Paddington (H&C Line) Underground Station

Take the circle towards Hammersmith (H&C Line) Underground Station/ or Hammersmith & city line towards Hammersmith (H&C Line) Underground Station

Hammersmith (Ham & City Line)

Walk to Hammersmith

Take the Piccadilly line towards Heathrow Terminal 5

Heathrow Terminals 1-3

Walk to Heathrow Airport Terminal 3

Should take us about an hour, there is only going to be 2 adults and 2 suitcases.

Ticket price £5.70?

Please let me no if i have got this wrong..

Thanks in advance

It might be quicker and easier to get the Railair coach from Reading (assuming you're coming from Cardiff)

I wouldnt want to take the underground just to kill some time.. Especially if you have heavy suitcases to take on with you. Just use the express and have a meal, book into an airport lounge or shop in duty free. Ps, hope your trains are on time!

You could go that way then.

You may also want to look at the Heathrow Connect from Paddington. Think it costs just under a tenner one way.

The route you describe is a very long way of getting from Cardiff to Heathrow. Over an hour longer, and more expensive than the train/coach option.

The tube route is absolutely fine, and now totally step free. I took the same route from Paddington to Heathrow at the end of December and it was easy, with just one thing to bear in mind (see below). It sounds complicated but in reality it's very easy. If it's a weekend then you'd need to check the engineering works schedule and see if it affects that route - tfl.gov.uk/assets/…track-closures.pdf

The H&C platforms are separate from the other tube lines at both Paddington and Hammersmith. After clearing the ticket barriers from your arriving train at Paddington, turn left and walk all the way around platform 12. Take the escalator up to the new taxi rank, walk straight ahead for about 100m to the H&C ticket office. There is a new lift down to the platforms.

Once you reach Hammersmith, you will have to swap ticket halls. Assuming you have paper tickets keep them with you - do not use the automatic barriers - and explain to the inspector you're continuing to Heathrow. Leave that station, cross the road and enter the District and Piccadilly line station. Again use the manned ticket barrier, and there's a lift down to the westbound platforms. Make sure your Piccadilly line train says "Heathrow Terminals 123&5"; don;t take any train marked Terminal 4 as it will take much longer to get to T123.

It's your choice. Remember the Connect only runs every 30 minutes and the journey takes 30 minutes. The tube services run every 5 minutes from Paddingtion H&C.

I'd certainly do either the connect or the express. Underground is just too much hassle and potential time waster. Get to the airport and relax. Having bought the ticket all the way in to Paddington doesn't matter if it is faster and cheaper to get off in Reading (if your train stops there). Either way, the money is already spent. You only decision is to do what is best and easiest from here out.

Geo on some uk train tickets ie advance/special offers if you get off at a station that is not on your ticket you are in effect cancelling that ticket and new tickets will need to be bought
