Sufficient time for connecting to International Flight

I'm looking at flights to Australia and since I'm on the east coast I will have to connect thru Los Angeles. I'm looking at a Virgin flight that leaves me 1:50 between flights. Is this cutting it too close?

If your first flight is on time you should be ok but personally I'd prefer a longer connection time to provide a buffer in case your first flight is delayed particularly for connecting to a long haul flight where the number of daily flights will be limited - do you have the option of am earlier flight from the east coast.

Are both flights on Virgin?

It will make a difference depending on which airlines you are using and which terminals are used at LAX. IF they are different terminals you'll not only have to walk between but you'll have to go through security again.

Yes both flights are on Virgin and the Flight to LAX is the only one leaving from FLL.

As long as first flt is on time. Would not need much if a delay to cause you to miss the connection.

I assume that the first, domestic flight is on Virgin America and the second on Virgin Australia. According to lawa.org/uploadedFiles/… both use Terminal 3 (Virgin Australia only for departures). Virgin Atlantic uses Terminal 2.

If this is a roundtrip, I hope you have a longer connection time coming back to the U.S.
