Which Layover is Best? ( JFK, ATL, LAX ? )

Hello,

I am looking to book my flight thru Delta from Tampa, FL to Hong Kong.

( I must use Delta because redeeming SkyMiles. )

Which airport and layover time seems best? I swore I'd never go thru ATL again because they lost my luggage once before but now I'm just hoping to choose the right itinerary ( best timing, best airport etc )

Hoping there are some experts out there who can help...Thanks in advance!

**Tampa> JFK 3.5 hr layover > NRT 1.25 hrs layover > Hong Kong

**Tampa> ATL 5.45 hrs layover > NRT 2 hrs layover > Hong Kong

**Tampa> LAX 3.45 hrs layover > NRT 2 hrs layover > Hong Kong

I love the ATL airport. Polite people. Great shopping. That said, that's a long time to be there. I'd go for JFK

Transit at Narita is a breeze (the most efficient in the world IMO). I'm usually off the plane and on the concourse in 10-12 minutes (from economy, 3-8 mins from business). The only issue with the 1 hour layover would be if the incoming flight is delayed. For that reason I'd probably go for one of the others.

Of those three airports, I would chose ATL. JFK would be two, but I hate LAX, for many reasons.

Now, if you are coming back to the US, through one of those three, my choices would be ATL, LAX, then JFK, due to immigration procedures. JFK can really get bogged down.

Now, and with that said, we are always flying UAL, do things might well be totally different on the Delta side of the street.

Hmmm I guess there is really no "right" choice - pros and cons to each of the options.

Thanks everyone for your input though - Appreciated!

Have you checked MSP? It would be my first choice. A relatively pleasant airport as North American airports go.

Of your choices, I would pick LAX because of time. I like ATL the best of the three. JFK has to be the worst airport in the world.

I'd pick LAX because of the timings mainly, but if it's on offer, I'd choose MSP first time.
