SQ new checked baggage allowance = old allowance + 10kg

Reportedly effective from 15 Nov. 2013:

Economy former 20kg => 30kg

Business former 30kg => 40kg

To North America => 2 pieces 32kg each

Etc.

Kudos to Singapore Airlines! May this help you to prosper. Take that - nicklers and dimers!

Thank you for posting this. Now I don't have to worry about the dive gear question, because I am sure we won't go over 30kg each!

Yeah, when carrying extra luggage it justifies paying a bit more for SQ, and getting the luggage allowance as an added bonus over the service, food, and IFE advantages over the carriers that keep contracting services and adding fees.

Reply #1 seems a mystery. If only it had something to lend sense to the unsubstantiated snide comment. What airline has increased its baggage allowance lately? What other airline is bucking the trend toward less service and more expensive upcharges on luggage? Which of those is a Skytrax 5-star or 4-star airline (or has a Skytrax rating of any kind)?

BTW, the OP was made after hearing the PR announcement on Singaporean media.

@ Earthling

To answer your question:

Emirates (4star) offers for a while 30kg in Eco, 40 in Business; and so does Etihad.

Qatar has the same limits but is a 5star airline.

All of the three airlines above are competing with SQ.
