Traveling from Vienna to Amsterdam next fall.

Hey guys,

In your opinion, who's the best airline price/schedule-wise for air travel between VIE to AMS? I've been checking the websites, and no one seems to stand out. Any advice would be appreciated. Traveling on a Friday, looking for mid day/mid morning if that helps clarify.

Thx, SJ

KLM and Austrian Airlines fly direct but seem expensive ...check out www.skyscanners.com

Alternatively, much cheaper BUT longer is to go by train.

Check out www.seat61.com for more details and options.

I am sure other travellers will provide more detaailed info.

I'd suggest KLM as the obvious choice as their hub is AMS and they offer more than one daily non stop flights from VIE although this is unlikely to be the cheapest option.

I'd suggest Austrian as the obvious choice as their hub is VIE and they offer more than one daily non stop flight to AMS... :-)

It's as broad as it's long... and fares are very similar too!

Although KLM and Austrian are direct I think Lufthansa has the best prices but you'll have to go via Frankfurt. As far as I know low cost airlines don't fly this route.

Thanks all very much for your help. The links have been helpful, and I've reached the same conclusions as your statements myself. A good price seems to somewhat unobtainable, so I'll concentrate on reasonable as possible.

Thank you all again,

SJ

AUTUMN, next autumn. When you're in Europe fall is a verb used to describe something travelling downwards. Autumn is a season.

Ask people over here when 'fall' is and they'll think you're mad.

Sorry, just a bit of a rant. To answer the question, Austrian operate 3/4 flights per day, and KLM operate three. They're the only two, so whoever is the cheapest out of them. If they're above budget, the train's an option. Take a look at www.raileurope.com

Raileurope is an overpriced ticket agency.

Use the below site to check schedules throughout Europe.

http://www.bahn.com/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml

They don't show prices as they vary from country to country. However, there's a link that will allow you to request a fare quote on the train schedule.
