I didn't think any plane could hold enough fuel to do this? How does a delivery flight differ from people on the plane?

Will it ever be possible to fly between these 2 cities non-stop? Are there any plans?

"In modern day aviation, on August 1989, a Qantas Boeing 747-400 set a record for flying non-stop between Sydney and London at a distance of 18,001 km (11,185 mi). However, this is only a delivery flight."

Delivery flights are those that fly a new plane to an airline from the factory. New York to Dubai is nowhere near the longest flight. New York - Hong Kong, New York- Mumbai, and New York - Johannesburg are all longer.

Thanks for that. I think it's now New York to Singapore from looking it up.

But how did the plane make it from Sydney to London without refueling?

Minimal onboard weight, favourable weather and wind, etc.

Ok just one last question :-) It's all very interesting!

It wouldn't be possible to complete this trip non-stop if passengers where on the plane? or It is possible but airlines aren't making a profit by doing it?

BTW, Would the president of the United States fly direct to Sydney? I've heard on Airforceone they can refuel during flight.
