Swiss Air to SIngapore

We were looking into flying with Finnair from Manchester to Singapore but the prices with Swiss Air from Birmingham to Singapore have suddenly dropped. It'll cost us £200 more but as we live a 40 minute drive from Birmingham airport, it's far more convenient to fly from there.

So, I was wondering if anyone has flown this route (or at least the Zurich to Singapore leg) and what Swiss Air are like to fly with. Our children will be 11 and 8 when we go. Both flights will also be night flights.

Thanks!

Swiss remain one of the best airlines. Don't hesitate to use them. And whilst your flight may be a code share with Singapore Airlines, either way they are likely to fly an airplane on the Zurich-Singapore route.

Swiss is ok, def. No longer top of the carriers. Swiss is Lufthansa under the Swiss label. No reason why not to fly with them.

They are good airline and reliable. Easy to transfer at Zurich.

Looks like they've been upgraded from "ok" to "good and reliable" in one day.

If you wait until tomorrow, perhaps they'll be "awesome"

I would pick Swiss over Finnair every time.

MapleG, any good reason why Swiss is better than Finnair?

I personally don't like Swiss for long haul. The smaller aircraft (can't remember what it is but the seat layout is 3-3-3) means there is no room to stand and stretch your legs anywhere except by blocking the aisle. I found the seats pretty average for legroom but the seat back screens were impossible to view if the seat in front was reclined. The angle of the screen didn't adjust enough and it became too dark to see. Also, you couldn't lower your seat tray and fit a food tray or drink on it with the seat in front reclined. Food was just about ok but not the best by far. I've flown São Paulo to Zurich and Zurich to Hong Kong and both experiences were similar. I wouldn't choose them again unless the planes were 747 or similar.

Swiss don't use 'small' aircraft for long haul.

How can the seat layout be 3-3-3 on a "small" aircraft?
