Hotel stay after overnight flight

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to check into a hotel at a uk airport after an overnight flight? really can't bear the thought of another 3 hour car journey home straight off a long haul flight that lands at 8am in the uk.

Yes, what you want is whats called " a day room". The going rate for this is usually half the normal price, assuming you just want it in the day, and a standard time woudl be 9am-6pm.

Very few hotel chains allow you to book these much in advance or online though, usually you need to phone 2 or 3 days in advance at most but it varies and you should phone well in advance to see whats needed to book one.

Without knowing which airport its hard to advise further, other than to say what you'd be best off with is an on-airport hotel, which at Gatwick and Heathrow (or indeed most airports) narrows it down to a handful. One example, the Sofitel at Heathrow often has dayrooms for £100, super convenient if flying into T5.

Shouldn't cause any problems, some hotels charge by the hour (dependent on which airport you are arriving at) if you are thinking of just laying up just for a few hours but whether it's a few hours or an overnight stay make certain when you book they confirm an early check in as most hotels it's not before 2pm

Good point the Yotels at Heathrow and Gatwick charge by the hour with a minimum, IIRC, of four hours. And can be booked online.
