I bought 3 round-trip tickets, forgetting, foolishly, that I had wanted to add a leg onto our journey instead of flying back directly. When I realized my error (past the 24 hour cancellation time) I called United to see what the change fees are. $200 per ticket! I am thinking about just not showing up at the airport for the return flight, and booking another flight altogether. Will United charge us for not showing? If I call to cancel (so they can sell our seats), will they charge me a cancellation fee? I don't understand how this is financially smart for United -- I would have paid them an additional $700 to add two more legs to my trip if I didn't have to pay the change fees. Instead, I'll be booking my next 2 legs through Delta! So United totally loses - they lose my money, and my interest in flying with them again. Thanks!
