I am booked on a return flight from LHR to HKG later on this year. The booking was made via Emirates own web site.
LHR to DXB, DXB to HKG and HKG to DXB are on flights operated by Emirates, but the final leg back to London is on a code share flight operated by Qantas. I have been able to select my preferred seat on all the Emirates operated flights, but I have been assigned a seat by Qantas for the flight operated by them.
I do not like a window seat, i far prefer to have an aisle, so I called Qantas to ask them if I could be moved from seat 54A to 54C.. They told me that to request a specific seat, would incur a charge of AU$50.
My question is that as I have booked the whole trip through Emirates and have an Emirates flight number, and Emirates have a no fee policy for seat assignment, should Qantas be allowed to charge me for a seat change request ?
