When to go through customs

Hi everyone. We are flying into Marseille, France in a few weeks, coming from the US, but first we have a layover in Frankfurt, Germany. When in this process do we go through immigration and customs? When we first get into the EU (Frankfurt) or our final destination (Marseille)?

You will enter the Schengen area at Frankfurt, and that is where you go through Immigration.

Your luggage will be booked through to Marseille, and will be regarded as entering the EU there. Customs formalities in France usually consist of walking through a doorway labelled "Nothing to declare".

I have been told(in a previous question)that it would be good to have 2hrs. between flights in Frankfurt to make sure you have enough time for passport check(immigration) and getting to your next flight.

"Customs" when entering European countries just means you walk through a line that says "nothing to declare".

Immigration in Frankfurt doesn't take that long. If it's busy and few officers present, it might take like 30 minutes, but usually it's way faster.

To be honest, I've never really seen a long line at the immigration in FRA.
