Paying for Emirates Business upgrade

We flew glasgow to dubai last year business class. Excellent.

I'm sure i read somewhere that if you have an economy ticket - and business class is not full - you can pay for upgrade?

Does anyone know anything about this? We would be flying from glasgow again. Any advice would be great

I understand you can buy upgrades at the airport, but they're NOT a bargain!

In my experience with other airlines the purchase of on the day upgrades can vary in terms of availability/price.

Some economy tickets are not eligible for upgrade even if you offer to pay - if there is spare seats in business these could be assigned to any frequent fliers first of all before paid economy upgrades.

All you can do is ask on the day but don't expect a bargain.

Emirates only upgrade Skywards members when they have to, i.e. economy class is overbooked.

Don't expect a bargain! Call Emirates to find out how much, but expect a shock!
