Security lines in Heathrow T1 - any recent experience?

Has anyone had recent experience with security lines in Heathrow T1 on Saturday morning? Flight at 9am, usually would be aiming at 7am at the terminal - or shall I add another half an hour? Have not flown from Heathrow for ages.

Thank you

Was at T1 on a Sunday morning last month. It went very smoothly, but it was on a Sunday morning. T1 is in addition a quite all building where you might have to walk a lot... 2 hours should be fine though.

I flew from T1 in December and didn't have any problem, security time was normal but it won't do any harm to get there 30 minutes earlier it's always better to have time for a coffee than stressed out

True, but it is less 30 min sleep! (Staying in a hotel nearby.)

Thank you.

Unless you go to bed 30 mins earlier!... Better safe than sorry for me.

If it were so simple! Would not get to the hotel before midnight.

I know, I know!

Thank you.

Where are you flying to, and at which hotel are you staying?

I've used T1 a few times a year for the past 5 years, and never had a problem with check in or security, though most of my flights have been 10am or later. I'd say 2 hours before departure is the minimum to be there. If you're on a long haul flight I'd say 2.5-3 hours before.

Hello igro01,

I'm in and out of LHR T1 almost every week. I reckon 2 hours will be absolutely fine - I usually stay in a Heathrow Hotel too: in fact this morning I checked out 2 hours before my departure and had plenty of time to spare. There isn't an awful lot to do at T1 and both check-in and security seem fine and the team there do seem very able to adapt to any irregularities.

Not long haul, Vienna with Austrian (or Tyrolean now), 9:05 departure. Fully agree that two hours is the minimum, always do that.

Staying in Jurys Inn at Hatton Cross. We are a family of three, so I plan to take a taxi to T1. Ten-fifteen minutes, I believe.

I know, but we will have at least one important thing to do: to have breakfast.

Many thanks to everyone for your advices.

No queus to speak of at T1 yesterday morning. About 20-25 mins from entering the terminal to clearing the security. Had enough time for a relaxing breakfast.

Many thaks to everyone for responses.
