Connection at Heathrow is 1hr 10 min! Check in required?

Hello, I booked a trip through American Airlines but my flight is on British Airways from Dallas to London Heathrow and then on to Venice, Italy. I am worried because the connection time is only 1hr and 10 minutes. I have done some research and I know that I must go through security (again) before boarding my flight. On the British Airlines site it says "When travelling from the USA, you must go to a check-in desk and see a British Airways agent, even if you have used online check-in or a check-in kiosk. ". Has anyone had to do this? Is it possible to get to my flight on time? I am in the same terminal, thankfully and only have carry on but our flight is the ONLY flight to Venice that day. Would they really book a flight that close together if connection was an issue? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

If you're flying on BA metal from DFW to LHR and then on to VCE you've got a tight but (probably) doable connectin.

Your flight from DFW will very likely arrive at one of the satellite terminal buildings. If you're flying in World Traveller then try to obtain seats near the front of the cabin so you don't have to wait 10 minutes to disembark. After you leave the airbridge into the body of the terminal building, walk as quickly as you can, following the signs to Flight Connections.

You will need to go through Security at Flight Connections; the liquids rules hold. Your flight to VCE may have its gate posted at the TIme Critical Flight Connections board so look for that as well.

I couldn't find the information at the BA website about having to see a BA agent at T5 if you've used OLCI; as far as I know there will be no need to do so since you will have checked in on line and (should have) received boarding passes for LHR-VCE at Dallas airport.

Your flight from DFW will arrive at T5 at the end of a busy time at the airport. Hopefully there won't be queues at Flight Connections Security; if so then perhaps you or your companion can find a staff member to help speed the process.

Good luck.

The minimum connection time for T5 to T5 is 1 hour. You will have to go through security again but the BA agent check will not apply. This is only for passengers travelling to the US not from. It is a passport check to confirm your travel documents have been seen by a member if staff before allowing you into the departure area. If you are returning on the same route and the VCE-LHR flight is operated by BA the staff in VCE will perform these checks before you board your first flight.

It is doable....I have done it many times... sometimes time is tight but the staff will give you a orange tag to show to security, that way you get in the fast lane...you can also ask for the fast lane even if you don't get the orange tag, they are usually nice when you show your boarding pass :)

I have never had to report to a desk...not coming from the US or going to the US connecting at Heathrow...you get both boarding passes at checkin..

Just make a staff member aware as you get to the security line in T5 of your tight connection and show your boarding pass. They will help facilitate your connection. It is very doable as long as your arrival flight is on time.

If you have purchased this all on the one ticket - it is doable - as the airline will not ticket a connection if it is less than their minumum connecting time.

I used to be a travel agent, and we used to have to check this, and even sometimes it would get rejected. So if you got it ticketed its ok , but might just be tight.

If necessary someone might meet you at the door of the aircraft and escort you to your next flight

Thank you all very much! I feel less stressed about making the connection now.
