Hi All,
Checking into hotel at Manchester terminal the day before our departure to BKK.- my question is are their shops, places to eat and drink on the public side of the Airport ??
Or do we have to venture away from the airport for the above ??

Yes landside has shops and places to eat.

Edited: 2:29 pm, January 16, 2013There are some shops and restaurants etc. But terminal 2 has the station attached to it and is a 15 minute train journey into the city centre.
Manchester has a great selection of bars and restaurants and would be better than the airport offering.

nothing much before security, no problems after security
if you will be there the day before you could get a taxis to manchester or to the trafford cente which is a great place to shop or eat and if you have time you could watch a fllm
Manchester airport has very little in departures landslide, although arrivals have a few options for coffee and snacks.

About five miles from the Airport, you can be in Hale, pubs, bars restaurants galore.

Edited: 3:01 pm, January 16, 2013In the circumstances I think you will be using your hotel's facilities (and paying a lot for them).
Terminal 3 has a couple of eateries landside before you go through security, but Terminals 1 & 2 don't have any at all.
At one time there used to be loads of shops/eateries, especially in Terminal 1, Terminal 2 did have a small amount but now it has all been changed, and as soon as you have checked in you go straight through to security to airside.

My previous info on terminal 3 is incorrect there is only one cafe with basic eats, I thought there were two. Its seems terminal 1 & 2 have a Runway Brassiere before security but its located between both terminals, see info on link.

Edited: 8:32 am, January 17, 2013The Runway Brasserie is part of the Radisson Blu. They did stop non patrons using it for a while, but not sure if they allow them again now.
