Can I take food on Thomson flight?

Hi, have booked to go to Rhodes and the flight is with Thomson. I see that they only offer 'snacks & stuff' instead of inflight meals. At Gatwick north can I take homemade sandwiches through security to eat during the flight? Thanks.

You can, but I'm not sure I'd want to eat them after they'd been unchilled for so long. Why not buy a meal deal at Boots, when you're airside at the airport?

Ready-made snacks/sandwiches tend to be high in salt/sodium and there's often not much variety for vegetarians. Out of interest it's not something I've bought before how much do the 'meal deals' cost? Thanks.

I would and do take my home-made sandwiches/rolls (the latter are slightly easier to manage) on short-haul flights. As previously stated of the pre-packed sandwiches available at the airports Boots are the nicest and not too expensive. Those you buy onboard are extremely expensive, not worth the cost and you don't get to choose by the sell-by date when you buy them off the flight attendant.

But for a 4hr flight good idea to take your own bagging.

Thanks for the replies. I sort of worried that airport security might confiscate my butties! :D

I think it's just liquids that are a problem going through security.

Taken direct from Thomson's own site :-

"Can I take my own food for the flight?"

"Yes. However, we can't provide heating facilities on board (although for infants, we are able to warm bottles of milk in hot water). Therefore, we would advise low-risk food such as pre-made sandwiches and snacks that can be eaten cold".

I don't often take stuff on with me to eat, but on the odd flight when this 30 something is accompanied by his tupperware wielding mother, yes its sandwiches all round. Crusts not cut off!!!! Actually there is something quite nice about Mothers lovingly made squished into a box sandwich, my fave - tuna and onion. Well why not let eveyone in the cabin know you are eating something much nicer than what that trolley can ever offer!!!! I think I've just had a brain-fart!

Thomsons don't do pre order meals on anything but longhaul flights.

Smallblueplanet - Boots do quite a nice Greek Salad wrap for vegetarians (Feta and Olives) one of their healthy options, quite tasty.

Thomsons also offer a spicy lentil snack pot on board (Food Doctor) they add the hot water, again healthy and tasty and totally vegetarian :o)
