 Cheap tickets

Did anyone hear about this new website, compete4yourseat.com

I went there yesterday and I submitted my request

because I needed a ticket to go see my Grandma in Fla. over spring Break and it was so cool, in no time I was getting great responses from so many travel agents. I am so excited because now I got a great ticket.

Anyone know about this?

Thanks

It sounds interesting.

You say you got a great ticket. Does that mean cheaper than what you were finding on other websites?

Did you do a lot of research before going to compete4yourseat?

I was everywhere, sidestep, kayak, orbitz, etc.

It was cheaper by about $60 which was alot because it was from ny to florida.

Quite timely, I had a friend who thought she was going to have to fly to Texas for an emergency.

compete4yourseat offered a ticket for $600.00 compared to over $1,000.00 direct from Continental airlines for a last minute ticket.

The emergency was not as bad as feared, so my friend won't be going and I did not follow thru to see if there were any strings attached to the offer.

The website is very easy to use. You just register your name and e mail address, no more information.

I submitted a request for a bid for specific travel dates and locations. A few minutes after I registered and sumbmitted my travel plans I received a bid notification. The notification included the details of the airline and flight times.

I was given the name and toll free number of a travel agency in New York to complete the transaction.

I will try this again in the future to see how I do and I am interested to hear from others.

If travel agents are going to survive in current conditions this is one way they could show they have value, by providing cheaper tickets than we can find on our own.

Hm. The Customer Support page, which should have a reassuring list of FAQs, perhaps a contact link and details of how one receives one's ticket, shows a page where one is invited to 'Register with us!'.

Perhaps not so strangely, the same page shows when one clicks on the My Itineraries, Feedback and My Account tabs.

Not only is it a Beta site, but there's also a nifty little disclaimer written in mice type at the bottom of the page: 'Compete4YourSeat is not involved in any monetary transactions between the consumer and travel suppliers. We just match consumers and travel suppliers.'

All of this info makes me feel confident about using the service in what way again?

How long until there's a post here on the forum titled 'Do NOT USE Compete4yourseat!!!!!'?

I am by nature a skeptic. But I tell you I registered yesterday. The only thing you give them is your name, and e mail address.

When I plugged in some flight requests I was refered to a specific travel agency and offered a fare cheaper than what I could find.

As I said in my previous post, I did not go thru with the transaction because the flight was not needed.

I have looked up the travel agency and it does exist and it is a member of the better business bureau in New York and has a satisfactory record.

I am especially skeptical about travel agents who claim to be able to get cheap flights, so who knows what would have happened if I followed thru.

I am also skeptical about first time posters here and the original poster is a first time poster.

But, if I can find a cheaper air fare I will take it. And, if some travel agents have found a way to be useful I think that is wonderful.

If I ever use this service I will post my experience and I hope others will do the same.

I went through compete4yourseat.com and put the date for my travel at this website. Then I after a few hour I got an email telling me I got bid for the price of the tickets. Which was $368.00 which I accepted and paid through a travel agent and then two hour later he gave me the information that I has a ticket for this flight. I went on the NWA/Delta and printed off my ticket. The airline was selling the same ticket for $503.90 and by going through compete4yourseat..I save at least $130.00

Hello Michael, I see this is your very first post. Unfortunately, this post started over a year ago, and the OP has never returned.

By the end of April, TA has promised us they will be making all posts older than six months "read only", so these old posts cannot be resurrected.
