On a recent trip overseas I decided to try a valet parking service at Heathrow. It was cheaper than the long stay car park.
Upon my return I discovered that a pair of prescription sunglasses I used for driving had been stolen from my car.
I reported this to the company concerned - Purple Parking.
Their response was to tell me that under their Terms & Conditions they acceptred no responsibility for any items missing left in my vehicle.
Their T&C do state that no responsibility will be accepted for valuables left in the car, but does a pair driving glasses count as valuables? Are we expected to remove all loose items from the car, like coats, maps, torches, hats?
It seems to me that these T&C are entirely unreasonable and give the company's staff a free licence to steal whatever they wish from customers' cars.
The whole idea of using valet parking was that it should offer a greater degree of security than a regular car park. In fact quite the opposite is true.
