I was hoping someone here may have some advice on some significant trouble I'm having with Orbitz. Long story here bare with me!
I purchased tickets for my mother and I for our Europe trip via Orbitz. We fly JFK to London on Sunday. London to Munich Sunday afternoon. Munich to London on Wendsday. London home on Sunday. Because of various changes we decided that we needed to change our tickets so that instead of going Munich to London on Wendsday we need to do so Friday evening. With this in mind I called Orbitz for assistance.
The Orbitz agent I received was rude and abrupt. She initially told me that I could make a change to my iternerary, but if I wanted to do so, I needed to mail my paper tickets back to Orbitz in order to do so. She then changed her mind and said that wasn't neccessary. I asked her how much it would be to change this part of the flight and she told me a thousand dollars or so. I knew I could get the tickets cheaper elsewhere and said so, she said that was the case. I asked her what would happen if I simply did not show for that leg of the journey, and here's the key, she said "That would be fine" I then I asked if I did not show for the leg of the journey what would happen to my later flight from London to New York and she said "That would not be effected"
I was recounting this story to a friend who said that I should double check this story because she thought they may cancel my flight to NY if I was a "no show" I called Orbitz today and they told me that this wouldn't work. I needed to be on that flight in order to have my flight from London to NY be effective. I told explained to her what the Orbitz agent had told me previously and she said that Air India has a no change policy, that I couldn't even CHANGE the flight (not that I could anyways for a thousand dollars) let alone just cancel that one leg of it. Basically I MUST be on that flight or my ticket is in valid.
However, since the initial agent told me it was acceptable not to show, I spent two hundred dollars buying my mother and I new tickets from Germany to London and another eight hundred on NONrefundable hotels in Venice so my travel plans are set in stone.
Orbitz basically gave me bad information, that I took for valid and made plans accordingly. They say there is no note of that paritcular part of the conversation on the account and therefore, basically, I lose.
I spoke to an agent and a supervisor, they're only suggestion was that they'd issue me a 100 dollar credit for the future but my vacation (and my mother's first trip out of the country ever!!) is ruined.
I feel like the should be held responsible for their very poor agents, very poor information but not sure of any further steps I can take.
Any advice?
